ইতিহাস
খিলগাঁও মডেল কলেজ ১৯৭০ সালের ২৪ আগস্ট ঢাকার প্রাণকেন্দ্র খিলগাঁওতে প্রতিষ্ঠিত হয়। কলেজটির অবস্থান খিলগাঁও চৌরাস্তা সংলগ্ন প্রায় ৭ বিঘা জমির উপর। প্রতিষ্ঠার আগে, ১৯৬৯ সালের ১০ নভেম্বর শামীম মিশিরের সভাপতিত্বে একটি সংগঠন কমিটি গঠন করা হয়। ১৯৭০ সালের ১ সেপ্টেম্বর, স্থানীয় মডেল স্কুলে ৪০ জন শিক্ষার্থী এবং ১২ জন শিক্ষকের সাথে কলেজের ক্লাস শুরু হয়।
প্রথমে কলেজের জন্য ৯ বিঘা জমি বরাদ্দ করা হয়েছিল। তবে, ১৯৭৫ সালের পর ৭ বিঘা জমি পুনরায় বরাদ্দ করা হয়। ১৯৭০-৭১ শিক্ষাবর্ষে কলেজটি ঢাকা বোর্ডের অধীনে পাঠদানের অনুমতি পায় এবং ১৯৭৭ সালের ১ জুলাই ঢাকা বোর্ডের অধীনে আনুষ্ঠানিকভাবে অনুমোদিত হয়। ১৯৮৩-৮৪ শিক্ষাবর্ষে ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের অধীনে ডিগ্রি স্তরে অনুমোদিত হয়, এবং ১৯৯৭-৯৮ শিক্ষাবর্ষে জাতীয় বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের অধীনে ডিগ্রি স্তরে অনুমোদন লাভ করে।
বর্তমানে, কলেজটি জাতীয় বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের অধীনে বিভিন্ন অনার্স এবং মাস্টার্স কোর্স পরিচালনা করছে। এখানে উচ্চ মাধ্যমিক, স্নাতক (পাস), স্নাতক (সম্মান), এবং মাস্টার্স কোর্স পড়ানো হয়। প্রধান বিভাগগুলো হলো: বিজ্ঞান অনুষদে প্রাণীবিদ্যা, কলা অনুষদে ইংরেজি ও ইসলামের ইতিহাস ও সংস্কৃতি, সামাজিক বিজ্ঞান অনুষদে সমাজকর্ম ও রাষ্ট্রবিজ্ঞান, এবং ব্যবসায় প্রশাসন অনুষদে হিসাববিজ্ঞান, ব্যবস্থাপনা, মার্কেটিং, ও ফিন্যান্স এন্ড ব্যাংকিং।
কলেজটিতে আধুনিক শ্রেণীকক্ষ, গবেষণাগার, গ্রন্থাগার এবং সাধারণ কক্ষসহ অন্যান্য সুযোগ-সুবিধা রয়েছে। এখানে একটি সক্রিয় রাজনৈতিক সংগঠনও রয়েছে। বর্তমানে কলেজে ১৭০ জন শিক্ষক ও কর্মচারী রয়েছেন এবং প্রায় ৮,০০০ জনের অধিক শিক্ষার্থী নিয়মিত পাঠ গ্রহণ করছেন। ভর্তি যোগ্যতার জন্য উচ্চ মাধ্যমিকে এস.এস.সি পরীক্ষায় ন্যূনতম জিপিএ ৩.৫০ থাকতে হবে, অনার্সের জন্য এস.এস.সি-তে ৩.৫০ এবং এইচ.এস.সি-তে ৩.০০ থাকতে হবে, এবং মাস্টার্সের ভর্তি সিজিপিএ এর উপর ভিত্তি করে নির্ধারিত হয়। কলেজটি নিয়মিত সেমিস্টার পদ্ধতি চালু করেছে এবং বোর্ড ও বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের পাঠ পরিকল্পনার মাধ্যমে যথাসময়ে কোর্স সম্পন্ন করে। এটি জাতীয় পর্যায়ে বেশ কয়েকবার স্বর্ণপদক প্রাপ্ত হয়েছে এবং শিক্ষার মান উন্নয়নে উল্লেখযোগ্য ভূমিকা পালন করছে।
